#WorldEnvironmentDay

June 5, 2024

The theme of this year’s World Environment Day is ‘Our Land, Our Future.’ By embracing locally produced Balcas Energy wood pellets or asking for Balcas Timber products, you are already taking a tangible step towards a greener, more sustainable future. Your choice not only benefits the environment but also supports our local economy and promotes sustainable forestry practices, making it a win-win solution for our planet.

Reduced Carbon Footprint Wood Pellets: Locally produced wood pellets significantly reduce the carbon footprint associated with energy production. By sourcing raw materials and manufacturing pellets locally, transportation emissions are minimized compared to importing fossil fuels or wood pellets from distant locations. This local production ensures that the carbon emissions associated with transport are kept to a minimum, thereby contributing to lower overall greenhouse gas emissions.

Support for our Local Economy: Producing timber & wood pellets locally supports regional economies by creating jobs in the forestry, manufacturing, and distribution sectors. This not only boosts local employment but also encourages sustainable forestry practices within the community. Economic benefits from local production can enhance community development and promote a more resilient local economy.

Sustainable Resource Management: Local production of  timber & wood pellets encourages sustainable management of our local forest resources. By utilising by-products from our own sawmills and forestry operations, the need for additional raw material harvesting is reduced. This promotes responsible forest stewardship, maintain forest health and biodiversity.

On this #WorldEnvironmentDay consider #GenerationRestoration – We cannot turn back time, but we can grow forests, revive water sources, and bring back soils. We are the generation that can make peace with land.

It is said the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago. The second best time is now.
