Volunteers’ Week 2016 – An Employee Focus
June 1 – 12 is Volunteers’ Week; an annual event which celebrates the contribution made by millions of volunteers across the UK. Balcas employees are known for being community focused, for example raising as they have well over £50,000 for charities through online giving alone.
One well known community hero who featured in local press this week is 37 year old Nigel Beatty from Enniskillen who started with Balcas in 2003, where he works in the CU1 grading logs.
Nigel is in his 5th year with Enniskillen Rangers Football Club where he volunteers 25-30 hours per week as a Football Coach and as the Youth Co-ordinator. As well as the administrative duties that are required in the day to day smooth running of the club, Nigel spends an additional amount of time off the pitch planning and preparing for fixtures and keeping the club pushing toward his dream of playing at the highest level of club football.
Nigel’s reward is in seeing his player’s progress and reach their potential, but he was also rightfully proud not only of his nomination for and eventually winning the IFA Volunteer of the Year 2015 for the Fermanagh, Omagh & Londonderry District.
We at Balcas are proud of Nigel’s achievements and wish him well as he progresses through his next UEFA ‘A’ coaching badge, and to he and his colleagues in their fundraising efforts to make Enniskillen Rangers a self-sufficient football club.
