Victory for Team Balcas at the Lough Erne Resort

The Lough Erne Resort Night Time Golf Challenge took place on St Patrick’s evening, 17th March, played over the 1st 5 holes at the magnificent Faldo course on the outskirts of Enniskillen and the event’s chosen charity was Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Taking the format of a 4-man team scramble, conditions were difficult to say the least! … each player was limited in clubs up to a maximum of a 5-iron, playing with special LED golf balls which had limited distance and erratic flight, and apart from fluorescent lighting to mark the flagsticks and edges of fairways, it was all played in total darkness of course!

Team Balcas was represented by David Humphreys, Simon Allen, Gary Colhoun and James Colhoun, who blitzed around the 5 hole course in 2 under PAR gross. This score tied the team with another group at the top of the leader board. However, having concluded their round with an emphatic Birdie-Birdie finish, the Balcas golfers clinched the overall title on a countback.
