Treated Product
Balcas have over three decades of experience in the manufacture and supply of treated timber to the fencing and construction industry in Great Britain and Ireland.
We pressure preserve treat our timber using Tanalith® E. Launched in 1992, Tanalith® E is an established high pressure wood preservative and provides long-term protection against wood decay and insect attack. Tanalised® treated timbers have an initial pale green colour as standard and upon external exposure, will slowly weather to a warm, honey brown and, in the longer-term to a natural silver grey colour. To add colour to the treated timber, Tanatone® is a brown colour additive that can be used with Tanalith® E wood preservative within the treatment process to add a built-in colour alternative. Tanatone® provides colour durability of around 12 months depending on location and exposure to UV light. To find out more about Tanalith® E and Tanatone® visit www.tanalisedtimbersmart.com.
Balcas are proud to offer our customers further assurance on our dried, incised, treated Fence Post Material by offering a 15 year performance guarantee.
Balcas Permapost Performance Guarantee
Following treatment, any areas of treated timber revealed by cross cuts, holes, notches, should be brushed with a suitable end-grain preservative.
Timber which is rip sawn, equalised, planed or heavily sanded must be returned to the treatment plant for re-treatment.
On no account are fence posts to be pointed after treatment. The shortening of posts and columns should be avoided. In any event, cross cutting must be restricted to the top of the post or column and cut ends of fence posts must not be placed in ground contact.
