The Balcas Group has an impressive track record in innovation in fibre procurement, the processing and supply of sawn timber, and more recently in the development of biomass renewable energy.
The Fermanagh-based company has 350 direct employees, and a similar number are engaged in its forest harvesting operations, and in transport.
Its future strategic intent is to achieve significant revenue growth across a range of markets, and improve efficiencies in all of its lines of business.
Since October 2007 the largest shareholder in Balcas has been SHV Holdings, and in January 2015 it has taken a majority stake in excess of 75% in the Group.
SHV Holdings is a family-owned multinational business with interests in industrial services, cash and carry wholesale, heavy lifting and transport, oil and gas exploration, energy distribution and provision of private equity.
The recent share transaction will provide the Balcas Group with increased financial strength and support.
The new ownership structure provides a powerful combination of industry competence and financial strength, and offers the scope for significant future growth across a range of products and markets.
