Minister Muir visits Balcas, Enniskillen
It was serendipitous that today, during National Tree Week, Andrew Muir, Minister of Agriculture, Environment, and Rural Affairs for Northern Ireland, visited Balcas Timber in Enniskillen.
This week marks the beginning of the winter planting season, making it an ideal time to discuss the importance and future of Northern Ireland’s forestry assets in mitigating climate change.
The Minister’s visit also included a tour of our sawmill, showcasing recent investments in world-class technology for optimizing log processing, as well as our Energy plant, which highlights our green electricity generation and wood pellet production.
During roundtable discussions with colleagues from the Northern Ireland Forest Service, including John Joe O’Boyle and Colin Reilly, we had the pleasure of engaging with Minister Muir on how Balcas collaborates with his department and our shared commitment to achieving net-zero goals.
