We’re proud to share that Balcas has successfully completed a significant investment in kiln heat recovery at our Enniskillen sawmill — a project that boosts energy efficiency and supports the long-term output of our timber drying kilns and renewable wood pellet plant.

🔥 Enter heat recovery:
By installing systems that reuse warm exhaust air to preheat incoming air, we’re now seeing up to 25% energy saving in our kiln cycles. That means more efficient heat use, less energy waste, and increased heat availability to increase our timber drying capacity and wood pellet production.

🕒 It’s also about seasonal resilience. Timber and heating markets follow different seasonal patterns — and this project helps us stay ahead of both.
